HISTORY
The Westchester County Society of Real Estate Appraisers, Inc., founded in 1948 and chartered in 1949 by the State of New York, is a non-profit membership society, with membership restricted to active and quality appraisers who have been engaged in the art of real estate appraising for a considerable period of time, and who are respected and acknowledged for their ability and trustworthiness, by those having cause to use their services.
Among the purposes and objectives for which this Society was organized are:
(a) To formulate, encourage, and enforce rules of ethics and professional conduct within and out of the Society.
(b) to establish, cultivate and conduct educational sessions for the benefit of its membership, and also of those interested in real estate appraising.
(c) To promote and foster research and development in the preparation and the publication of factual appraisal information essential to the professional appraiser.
(d) To assist the scholar in the furtherance of their appraisal education, research and other allied projects and procedures.
(e) To further the cultivation of social fellowship among its members and the exchange of professional appraisal data.
(f) To the furtherance of economic, social, and moral well-being of the members of this Society, and of their protection and promotion as required.
Membership in the Westchester County Society of Real Estate Appraisers, Inc., has long been considered a mark of distinction, and each member on the occasion of his/her installation, has agreed to respect its professional standing and adherence to its Code of Ethics.
The title of the Society is: Westchester County Society of Real Estate Appraisers, Inc., although membership currently includes other communities in the States of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Florida.
